![]() ![]() Plus, there are rail-shooting sequences, and for those who like it - these are nice. When fighting you are always confined to the battle scene, you can't just walk around at any time in the game. The gameplay itself is limited all you can do is cover-switching and shoot. (actually Doom-1 has more enemy variety than here). You are assisted by computer-controlled squad mates, and together you fight against repeating sorts of enemies with a basic arsenal of weapons through the entire game. Unfortunately, it does not have the dynamics and action of "Wanted: weapons of fate", but rather tedious short battles which repeat as you run from one action scene to the next one. The game is a very average TPS (third person shooter) which relies on cover-style gameplay, which modern TPS games became fond of. Alas, the creators obviously do not know that the whole point of Terminator movie, or games for that matter is to be able to play as Schwarzenegger. Obviously, the creators intended to cash in on Terminator fans. Terminator Salvation - a nice little game The game's John Connor is not based on Christian Bale's portrayal in the film, but actors Common and Moon Bloodgood lend their voices and likenesses as the game's Barnes and Blair Williams. A local co-op mode lets players face the fight of the future with a friend. Other sequences put players at the controls of armored vehicles. Cover can be temporary, as destructible environments make for dynamic battlefields under heavy fire. ![]() Players are regularly challenged to assess dangerous areas for the best path of advance or assault, making use of cover and high-ground advantages where possible. Available weapons include shotguns, machine guns, mounted weapons, and rocket launchers. The enemy is an army of relentless, overpowered robots from the established Terminator franchise. ![]() Released to retail alongside the theatrical debut of the feature film in May of 2009, the game is set two years before the movie, in the year 2016, just after the SkyNet cyber-entity has launched nuclear missiles and committed Judgment Day. Terminator Salvation players take the near-futuristic, shoot-'em-up role of John Connor, who will become humanity's greatest leader in its time of deepest despair.
